A pendulous Camperdown elm (Ulmus glabra 'Camperdownii') lurks in Dundee’s historic Howff burial ground.

Hawthorn (Crataegus monogyna) is looking incredible this year isn't it? It seems to be flowering more abundantly than I can remember. When I stumbled across this one on Hampstead Heath I had to stop in my tracks. Not only was it looking incredible against the verdant greens surrounding it, its flowers were pumping out that particular hawthorn perfume. When I first smelt it as a child I was appalled by it, but now I adore the sweet, musty faintly rank smell.
